10/23/06 12:00 AM - Formula 1 2006 Season Review

First off, I would like to thank everyone for a wonderful and exciting season. For the first time ever we had 5 participants finish with 60+ points. Unbelievable finish!

Congratulations to Paul Lucas for becoming the new Formula 1 Drivers Champion!

He joins 2004 Champion: Silvio Taglieri and 2006 Champion: Jussi Ahvenus in the F1 Hall of Fame and next year will try to become the first ever driver to defend his title. Something that Silvio and Jussi could not do.

Congratulations Antero Matikka & Al Ferreira for winning the Constructors Championship for team Williams!

Williams joins 2005 Champion: Sauber in the F1 Hall of Fame.

2nd Overall: Jussi Ahvenus

- Great season by former champion Jussi. 1 point better than last year but this time someone finished above him. He did not win a race this season but was always in every race.

3rd Overall: Antero Matikka

- Strong finish for Antero. His stronger finish since 2004 when he won Bronze as well. Antero improves by 16 points compared to last season.

4th Overall: Harry Lam

- Harry clinches 4th spot overall on the very last day of the F1 Season. He went from 10th in 2005 to 5th in 2006 with a 26 point improvement.

5th Overall: Silvio Taglieri

- 12 point improvement for former champion from last year but this year drops from Silver medal in 2005 to 5th in 2006.

6th Overall: Al Ferreira

- 13 point improvement from last year however finishes in 6th place overall just like 2005.

7th Overall: Mark Yeates

- Most wins this season with 4. This was Mark’s first full season and 7th overall is a strong finish.

8th Overall: Jimmy Andreou

- A 22 point improvement over last year and climbs 4 spots in the standings last year finishing 12 and this year finishing 8th. He also won the last GP of the 2006 season but has not recaptured his Silver medal like 2004.

9th Overall: Visajaani Salonen

-  Visa goes from 15th overall last year to 9th overall this year with a 23 point improvement.

10th Overall: Jimmy Le

- Jimmy Le wins Rookie of the Year joining the likes of Silvio Taglieri from 2004 and Al Ferreira in 2005.

11th Overall to 16th Overall:

James Li, Frank Halpin, Aleksi Honka, Mario Lavoie, Piiki Putaja, Mika Laine all had a rough season either filled with DSQ’s or bad predictions. Look for an improvement and perhaps a top 10 finish next year for some of these individuals.

Disqualifications and Quits:

Bob Kittiphanh, Fabio DoCouto, Paul Treiber, Gurpreet Singh Sohi, Adam Rosati, Mike Sousa, Joe Vieira, Vesajoona Salonen all had very poor attendance this year and sank to the bottom of the standings.

For everyone:

If you are going to be a part of the 2007 F1 Season please let me know. If you are going to quit please also let me know.

If you have any friends or family that want to join let me know as well. If I do not hear from you I will assume you are OUT.

Next years team mates (Preliminary):

(According to Rules)

Paul Lucas & Jimmy Le (2006 World Champion and 2006 Rookie of the Year)

Jussi Ahvenus & Visajaani Salonen (2005 World Champion and 2 year veteran)
