FSL Formula 1 2010 Season – Season Summary

Constructors

12 - HRT - Cosworth CA2010 (18th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

HRT finished the season with no drivers. Unsuccessful season.

11 - Renault - Renault RS27-2010 (5th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Lopez & Di Ponio didn’t bring Renault to the top of the podium very many times. An unsuccessful season considering their overall standing in the Hall of Fame.

10 - Lotus - Cosworth CA2010 (13th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Saunders & Andreou, Expected bigger things with these two partnered up. A failure on their part but for Lotus a bright sign considering they didn’t finish last in their first season.

9 - Williams - Cosworth CA2010 (3rd overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Li & Vi. Salonen – A terrible season considering their 3rd overall hall of fame ranking. Visajaani brought some respectability to the team by winning the last two GP’s of the 2010 season.

8 - Sauber - Ferrari 056 (8th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Francouer & ChoiSauber was blessed by the presence of rookie sensation Francouer. Amazing season for Sauber considering its their first time back in over 4+ seasons. Could have used more help from Choi though.

7 - Red Bull - Renault RS27-2010 (4th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Treiber & Yeates – A disappointing season for Red Bull unlike real life. Treiber could have done better and FSL experts still believe Yeates has a lot of potential but can’t seem to put it together.

6 - Mercedes - Mercedes FO 108X (12th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Wong & Ve. Salonen – A decent season for Mercedes however after landing 2009 World Champion Alan Wong they expected bigger and better things.

5 - Force India - Mercedes FO 108X (7th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Ahvenus & DoCoutoAhvenus ran this team all by himself and almost took the title before the car failed him in the last couple of races.

4 - Ferrari - Ferrari 056 (2nd overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Kan & Matikka – Ferrari deserved a top 3 finish. I blame Matikka for the failure of Ferrari this season. Hahahaha.

3 - Toro Rosso - Ferrari 056 (6th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Taglieri & Barbujani – A fantastic finish for Toro Rosso thanks to the Ferrari engine and Italian driving power ;)

2 - Virgin - Cosworth CA2010 (9th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Lam & Le – A fantastic season for the Asian sensations Lam & Le!

1 - McLaren - Mercedes FO 108X (1st overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Ferreira & Lucas – Nothing to say here. This team was unstoppable and team McLaren finally won their first F1 Championship. Al and Paul were monster drivers this season. What a powerhouse team!

Drivers

25 - Chien Hsieh ® DSQ (50th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

DSQ’d, nothing more to say.

24 - Cat Chang ® DSQ (36th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

DSQ’d as well. Had potential but seems to have lost interest after a rough start.

23 - Rosario Di Ponio ® (31st overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

24 Championship points in 9 GP’s. Not bad coming in half way through the season. Lets see what he has in 2011.

22 - Fabio DoCouto (16th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

A terrible season for DoCouto. His worst ever after coming off when of his best ever in 2009. This is one of those E! True Hollywood Stories where the minor success of 2009 got to his head. Fabio was involved in many sex and drug scandals in 2010 which took his focus away from the track. There were even rumors of him having an affair with Betty White in a drug crazed weekend in Vegas.

21 - Hiroshi Kuniyoshi ® DSQ (29th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

DSQ’d. Had potential but fizzed out.

20 -  Paul Saunders © (18th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Paul would be the first to tell you he wasn’t happy with his season. Especially after a solid 7th overall performance last season. Rumor has it he joined Fabio in some of those escapades.

But Paul would tell you….no excuses

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-JEd7lBavM&feature=fvsr

19 - Bernard Choi ® (26th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

1 GP away from being DSQ’d. Lets see if he takes it more serious next season.

18 - Vesajoona Salonen (14th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

A terrible season for Vesajoona. He spent more time concentrating on MotoGP which worked out well for him as he won the 2010 MotoGP World Championship!

17 - Paul Treiber (13th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

We’ve seen better seasons from Paul Treiber. This is nothing to write home about. Hope to see him again next season, with a better performance.

16 - James Li © (9th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

This is a hard one to swallow after 5th overall in 2009. To many pit stops, to many lost points.

15 - Visajaani Salonen (10th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Visajaani won the last 2 GP’s to wrap up the 2010 Season however he knows he can perform better than this.

14 - Christian Barbujani (22nd overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Toro Rosso captain Silvio was not happy with the way the season ended for Christian. To many missed opportunities. Vafanculo! ;)

13 - Jimmy Andreou (7th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Jimmy is a top 10 driver so its safe to say he failed this year.

12 - Rino Lopez ® (21st overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Fantastic season for rookie Rino. Looking for bigger and better things in 2011!

11 - Antero Matikka (4th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Antero does not deserve to drive for Ferrari. Ferrari should burn the cockpit and install a new one. Enough said.

10 - Mark Yeates (8th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

When Yeates originally joined big things were expected. We are still waiting…

9 - Vincent Kan © (15th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

A disappointing season considering his 2nd overall finish in 2009. But he’ll be back in 2011 I’m sure.

8 - Jimmy Le (11th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

A fighting spirit in Jimmy Le this season. A good performance. Almost cracked the 100 point mark.

7 - Alan Wong © DC (12th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

The 2009 World Champion had a solid season but its obvious he wanted to do much better. Alan Wong will be a threat every year I’m sure of it.

6 - Steve Francouer ® (17th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR!!!

http://www.sft79.com/fsl/racing/halloffame/F1RookieOfTheYearStats.html

Amazing season! Can Steve capture the same success in 2011? He might be the guy to beat. We’ll find out in the seasons to come. Fantastic season Steve!

5 - Al Ferreira © (5th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Al is a top 5 driver. Is always in it till the end. Another solid performance. A Championship in the near future if he keeps this pace I’m sure.

If I have my facts correct he had a friendly bet with his arch rival Steve Francouer. Rumour has it they had their motorbikes on the line. This battle went back and forth until Al snatched victory away from Steve in the final GP!

4 - Jussi Ahvenus (1st overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Jussi let his 3rd Championship slip away in the final 3 GP’s! Jussi is already a legend and will continue to be rock solid for seasons to come.

3 - Harry Lam (6th overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Harry had an amazing season! This was a remarkable season for Harry! Not just in F1 but with his family and home!

2 - Silvio Taglieri (2nd overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Lost by 4 points, like Alonso. Ferrari fan, Ferrari depression for 2010. Best season since winning it all in 2004. And last years brutal 19th overall finish can now be put to rest.

1 - Paul Lucas (3rd overall in F1 Hall of Fame)

Paul and Jussi have been destroying the podium over the last few seasons. Paul has won it this time tying Jussi with 2 World Championships! Paul was consistent and just an all out powerhouse this year! He did not hold 1st overall very long but when it counted he came through and captured the title.

He is the first driver to win 2 titles representing 2 different nations. 2006 it was Great Britain, 2010 is USA. He joins the likes of fellow Americans Phil Hill (1961) and Mario Andretti (1978). Paul has also won the Championship with two of the most prestigious teams, Ferrari and McLaren! How legendary is that?

Congratulations Paul! Another amazing season! Let’s see if you can defend the title. No one has ever been able to.

Please submit your victory speech before January 1st, 2011.

Brazil Update

News

For the 3rd straight year a Salonen wins in Brazil! This time Visajaani! Reminiscent of Mika Häkkinen’s dominance in Brazil in 1998, 1999.

We have a new leader with 1 GP remaining!!! Paul Lucas has taken over the #1 position! Will he capture his second World Championship? He would be the first do to so representing 2 different nations. 2006 it was Great Britain, 2010 would be USA.

While Alonso, Webber, Vettel and Hamilton battle for the Championship in the final GP this Sunday, Lucas, Ahvenus, Taglieri, Lam and Francouer will be battling as well.

This is going to be a wild finish!

South Korea Update

News

Rino Lopez wins his first ever GP in his rookie season! In order to surpass Steve for rookie of the year he would have to win the last 2 GP’s and hope that Steve does not pick up any points. Mission impossible but we’ve seen stranger things.

With 2 GP’s remaining the battle for the Championship is very tight. Will Jussi Ahvenus win his 3rd F1 Championship and join the likes of Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda, Jackie Stewart etc…?

Or will Paul Lucas win his 2nd F1 Championship? Just behind him is amazing rookie Steve Francouer, veteran Harry Lam and 2004 Champion Silvio Taglieri. All with 125+ points.

Lotus wins their first race ever as well.

Britain Update

News

Corrections made to the Britain GP. Our apologies to Steve Francouer as we accidently omitted his predictions.

The standings for the Britain GP have been updated and Steve Francouer is the winner! Talk about a mistake! Hey we’re only human!

Rino Lopez drops to second and Jimmy Le to 3rd. So the top two drivers in Britain are both rookies.

Steve Francouer wins his first ever GP and takes a 12 point lead over Rino Lopez for Rookie of the Year.

Sauber wins their first GP of the season, first time since 2005 when they were last in our fantasy league and actually won the Constructors title.

Antero was happy to point out that this change eliminated the “4 Italians winning the last 4 GP’s”

Don’t worry Antero…in the last 6 GP’s Italians finished on the podium ;)

For the first time since the 2005 season no captain has traded their teammate. In 2005 that proved to be a good choice by all captains as their teammates finished ahead of them in the standings proving their worth.

Looks like no one wanted to make the same mistake Antero did last season…trading away the eventual second overall driver Vincent Kan…..haha love taking digs at him.

Please welcome rookie Rosario DiPonio who will be taking over the empty seat at team Renault alongside Rino Lopez.

Welcome to the 2010 Formula 1 Season.

Our current Champion is Alan Wong…He will be the driver to beat…

The teams are set and we’re ready to roll. Teams are put together according to the rules. We have some strong teams going into 2010. Its going to be a great season.

Please welcome our second rookie, Steve Francouer. He will be partnering rookie Cat Chang on team Sauber.

Sauber is back for the first time in 4 seasons after breaking ties with BMW.

Last time Sauber was in our F1 Fantasy League they won it all with Jussi Ahvenus as driver and Paul Treiber as his partner in Constructors, 2005. Sauber sits 9th overall in our Hall of Fame. Good luck to Francouer and Chang in bringing Sauber back to the Championship.

First race is on March 14th
