Rules

Setup

Participants will be divided into 8 groups in the group round.

Top two participants in each group qualify for the Round of 16.

Guidelines for Groups

Participants in groups are grouped together by the standings of the previous pool results.

Top 8 become top seeds, 9 to 16 get placed in 2nd position, 17 to 24 get placed in 3rd position, 25 to 32 get placed in 4th position.

Newcomers get added at the bottom and are ordered by their request to be entered.

Newcomers are considered newcomers if they were not involved in the previous pool.

Squad Selection

Each participant must pick a squad of 23 (20 players and 3 goalkeepers)

Simply choose players who you believe will score the most.

Scoring
Forward, Midfielder, Defender

G - 1 pt for a Goal

GWG - 1.5 pts for a Game Winning Goal

ETWG - 2 pts for an Extra Time Winning Goal

Goalkeeper

D = 1 pt for a Draw

G = 2 pts for a Goal

W = 3 pts for a Win

SD = 4 pts for a Shutout Draw

SW = 5 pts for a Shutout Win

Backup Goalkeeper

Scenario: Participant’s GK does not start or finish a game do to injury, illness, scratch.

In this case whatever result the GK's team accomplishes with the alternate GK in net, the participant will only earn half points.

D = 0.5 pts for a Draw

G = 1 pt for a Goal

W = 1.5 pts for a Win

SD = 2 pts for a Shutout Draw

SW = 2.5 pts for a Shutout Win

Shootout goals, Goalkeeper shootout wins and Own goals don’t count for any extra points.

Substitutions

Top two participants in each group qualify for the Round of 16.

In the Round of 16 you’re allowed to substitute 6 players of any kind.

Winners in the Round of 16 move onto the Quarter Finals.

In the Quarter Finals you’re allowed to substitute 6 players of any kind.

Winners in the Quarter Finals move onto the Semi Finals.

In the Semi Finals you’re allowed to substitute 6 players of any kind.

Winners in the Semi Finals face off in the World Cup Final and losers in the Semi Final face off in a 3^rd Place Match.

In the Finals and 3^rd Place Match you’re allowed to substitute 6 players of any kind.

You must maintain your 20 Players and 3 Goalkeepers formation when substituting.

Player substitutions are to be submitted in this format:

OUT Country – Firstname Lastname

IN Country – Firstname Lastname

You are to check for yourself if your subs were inputted correctly after you get a confirmation email from me that I received them.

If you notice mistakes after the games are over it will be considered to late and you will take blame for not double checking.

Everyone will start at 0 points when a new round begins.

I will email each of you before the next rounds begin.

If failure to respond before the next round begins you will continue on with the same players and receive a penalty of -2 points for the new round.

If you do not receive a reminder email from me that is no excuse because you should be following anyway.

Tie Breaking Rules

1. Most points

2. Most goals

3. Most Goalkeeper goals

4. Most Goalkeeper wins

5. Most Goalkeeper shutout wins

6. Most (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) from previous round

7. If all else fails, traditional soccer style, I will flip a coin
